The Middle Island Volunteer Fire Department celebrated its 65th anniversary at the recent 2013 installation dinner.  For 65 years, the MIFD has been providing emergency services to the residents of Middle Island.  Members of the department answered over 1700 calls in 2012, and participated in hundreds of hours of training and drills.

Attendees of the installation included Gail Lynch-Bailey of the Longwood Alliance,  Past MIFD Chief and Commissioner Craig Tunjian, Town Councilwoman Connie Kepert, Tom Talbot of Middle Island Civic, and Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker.  The group is posed around the congratulatory poster presented to MIFD on behalf of The Alliance, Middle Island Civic, Longwood Public Library and Boy Scoot Troop 433.  The troop has been chartered and sponsored by MIFD for 38 years.
