Here are several local chances to “Meet the Candidates:”
Join the Yaphank Civic Association this Wednesday, October 12 at 7:30 for their monthly meeting at the Yaphank Fire House. Guest speakers are Congressman Lee Zeldin and candidate Anna Throne-Holst. The meeting will start promptly at 7:30. The format is expected to be a non-confrontational one, with Mr. Zeldin speaking for the first half hour and Ms Throne-Holst for the second thirty minutes. Everybody in the Longwood Community is welcome to attend.
ABCO, the Affiliated Brookhaven Civic Organization, will also host the First Congressional Candidates on Monday, October 17 at the Medford Oregon Avenue Firehouse from 7:30 – 9:30 pm.The firehouse is located at 171 Oregon Ave in Medford, at the corner of Rt 112. This will be a formal debate, with questions submitted in writing ahead of time and timed statements and responses. MICA is a member of ABCO and thus all MICAns are invited to attend.
Candidates for New York State Assembly Districts 1 & 3, and NYS Senate District 1, will speak at the Middle Island Civic Association meeting on Thursday, October 20. The meeting will be held at the Longwood Public Library, at 800 Middle Country Road in Middle Island. A short business agenda will commence at 7pm, with the candidates forum following at approximately 7:30pm. Incumbents Dean Murray, Anthony Palumbo and Ken LaValle are confirmed participants. Still hoping to hear back from the challengers! All welcome.
The Coram Civic Association will host their second Meet the Candidates Night on Monday, October 24 at 7:30pm at the Coram Fire Department at 303 Middle Country Road in Coram. This evening will also feature candidates for the First Congressional District.
