As some of you know, Longwood is split between two SCPDs – the 6th and the 7th, with Rt21 the dividing line between them.

This month members of  the greater Longwood Community have two opportunities to learn more from our important partners in the Suffolk County Police Department via their monthly Community Meetings.  And both meetings are taking place right in Middle island!

The first is at our regular monthly MI Civic meeting on Thursday, March 17 at 7pm at the Longwood Public Library. We will be hosting the SCPD’s 7th Precinct Community Meeting that night.  Inspector Gerry McCarthy and his COPE officers will provide updates, crime stats, arrest figures and trends for the entire 7th Precinct over the last month.  Please join us at LPL at 800 Middle Country Road – we will also celebrate St Patrick’s Day and have some civic updates after the SCPD concludes their outreach.

The second is the SCPD’s 6th Precinct Community meeting which will be held on Tuesday, March 22 at 7pm at the Middle Island Fire Department.  Please join Inspector William Murphy, COPE Officers Will Gibaldi and Todd Bradshaw, and reps from MICA and the MIFD.  We will meet upstairs in the second floor ballroom of the HQ building located at Arnold Drive and MCR.  Park in the far north east lot and use the center door located on Arnold Drive.  Refreshments will be served.

These meetings are good opportunities to share your concerns and observations with local law enforcement officials.  You may also speak confidentially with an officer if you wish.  The police really do value our input and they do act on much of the information we share with them.

Hope to see many of you at one of these two meetings!
